It combines elements of design, culture, science and technology, as well as having a strong emphasis on practical training, through things like internships. These courses are generally highly competitive and will take up to five years to complete, at which you will usually work for yourself or with a government or commercial organisation. As well as architecture, you can study urban design, where you will learn to design and plan new cities, interior design or landscape design. Building courses are also available at colleges and universities, giving you professional skills to make the designs a reality.
